Coronavirus is Real but Not Deadly – Survivor shares Story.
The coronavirus has killed more than 140,707 worldwide, and still, there are people denying it exists. These are people who, ignoring not only facts but also others’ grief, find the time (probably during their quarantine) to push disinformation online about COVID-19.
Mr Fredrick Drah, a married man with four children and a survivor of COVID-19 shares a different view. After recovering from COVID-19, he tells Ghanaians how real COVID-19 is and says he will not wish his experience with the disease on anybody.
Recounting his experience to DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Mr Drah said he fell ill on March 17 and decided to get tested for COVID-19, the highly infectious respiratory disease caused by the new Coronavirus.
The test came back positive and Mr Drah was taken to a specialised facility at the GA East to receive medical care. He remained at an isolation ward until last week when he was discharged following his recovery from COVID-19.
Mr Drah revealed that everything said about COVID-19 is true and as such people should take it seriously lest contract the virus.
“The virus exists; if someone tells you the virus doesn’t exist, he or she is lying to you. COVID-19 is real and so it’s high time we all believe it. Let’s all adhere to the precautionary measures to keep us safe. Wash your hands regularly, sanitize your hands frequently, keep a distance from people and let’s always cover our nose and mouth with a mask. However, the disease isn’t that deadly as widely spread.” Mr. Drah said.
He encouraged people to stay calm and not be afraid of the disease but rather go for check-up should they see any of the symptoms of COVID-19.
“I want to reassure Ghanaians that, the disease doesn’t kill us, let us not be afraid. However if you see any of the symptoms like headache, cough, please visit the hospital. Even if you test positive for COVID-19, you’ll not die, have faith that, just like me you will also recover.”
Ghana has so far recorded 641 COVID-19 cases with eight deaths. However, 83 people have recovered from the virus after twice testing negative and have returned to their normal lives.
