Furnish parties with full voters register to boost credibility – Mahama to EC.
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to furnish all political parties with the full register being used for the voters register exhibition exercise.
Mr. Mahama told the media that the NDC’s criticism of the process was only aimed at ensuring that the register is clean and without irregularities.
This is one of the concerns the NDC wants to be addressed as the voters register exhibition exercise continues.
“Our party complained that they don’t have the full complex of the register. They have parts of it and so it makes it difficult for them to monitor and follow the exception exercises. I think these are things the Electoral Commission is enjoined to do and so they need to sit up and make use that the parties have the registers so that we can help them.”
He was speaking to the media after checking for his name in the exhibition exercise at the Bole District Assembly polling station in the Savannah region.
Mr. Mahama also urged the EC to regard the political parties as “partners in this exercise.”

“We can help them to make sure that we have a register that is credible and capable of being used in any election in the future.”
The EC extended the voters register exhibition exercise by three days after some other challenges slowed down the process and affected turn out.
The exercise started on September 10, 2019 and was expected to end on September 17, 2019.
A statement signed by Acting Director of Public Affairs at the EC, Sylvia Annor however said the exercise will now end on September 20, 2019.
