In a Sunday Dutch Eredivisie match against Sparta Rotterdam, Ajax player Mohamed Kudus gave a moving tribute to his late countryman Christian Atsu.

In celebration of scoring his first-ever free-kick goal, Kudus lifted his jersey, revealing a shirt that read “Rest in Peace Atsu” in memory of the Ghanaian footballer who tragically passed away recently.

Atsu, 31-years-old, was found dead following the devastating earthquake in Turkey, his agent confirmed, Saturday, February 18.

The sad news follows a 12-day search amid the rubble of the earthquake that has devastated Turkey and Syria.

Kudus’ solemn celebration was a heartfelt remembrance of his fellow Black Stars player, whose passing has devastated many.
