Two weeks old baby raped, fighting for life at hospital

Two weeks old baby raped, fighting for life at hospital.

A two-week-old baby has allegedly been raped and is fighting for life in the hospital.

The baby is in the pediatric unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children where it is being treated.

A man appeared in court earlier this week charged with rape and causing grievous bodily harm of a child, according to the BBC.

The baby was taken to hospital from the Annalong area of County Down.

Police said that a 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with rape and GBH with intent.

The attack is under investigation by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch.

His name cannot be reported in order to protect the baby’s identity and he has been remanded in custody at Maghaberry prison.

The man has been charged with rape and grievous bodily harm after the baby was left in a serious condition.

News of him being attacked comes after reports last week that he is being guarded round the clock in a bid to stop other prisoners from attacking him.

The defendant has been deemed a ‘Special Person At Risk’ and had therefore already been put in a secure unit away from terrorists, murderers, violent thugs and gangsters, The Sun reported last week.

The newspaper quoted a source as saying: “Feelings are extremely high, both inside and outside the prison.

“I would be pretty sure that if any other prisoners got near him they would lynch him, such is the outrage being expressed by inmates on the landings.”
