Kwesi Nyantakyi charged with fraud; granted GHC1 million bill.
The embattled football administrator, Kwesi Nyantakyi has been charged by an Accra High Court with three offences – fraud, corruption and conspiracy to commit fraud. The former GFA president was charged togher with Abdulai Alhassa.
The principal state attorney, Victoria Asiedua in her presentation to the court said, the duo signed an MoU on behalf of a non-existent company claiming to be attracting sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League.
On Wednesday March 4, Principal State Attorney told the High Court that Mr. Nyantakyi and Mr. Alhassan allegedly also demanded US$12 million from the supposed investors promising to land them major contracts in Ghana.
An amount, Mr. Nyantakyi said would be distributed amongst some top government officials in the NPP.
The High Court, after proceedings, granted the two former football administrator bail in the sum of GHC 1 million with three sureties, one to be justified.
They are also required to report every Friday at the police CID. The case has been adjourned to March 25 for a case management conference.
In June 2018, an investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye P.I. team exposed the dealings of the former GFA president.
