NPP Primaries suspended at Asawase

The acclamation of Hon. Alidu Seidu, the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong as the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Asawase Constituency has been suspended, Ghnewslab.com reports.

NPP National Organizer, Sammy Awuku announced the development on Peace FM, Saturday afternoon.

He said the decision to suspend the process was based on the counsel of the party’s lawyers.

This comes on the back of a court injunction secured by presidential staffer, Manaf Ibrahim who was exempted from contesting in the primaries by what the party said was an “executive resolution”.

Voting at the Amasaman Constutuency has also been suspended following a court injunction on the process.

In all, eight “orphan constituencies” would have to elect their parliamentary candidates at a later date.

Voting in all the other ninety eight constituencies have largely been peaceful, the party has observed.
